Do You Qualify?

Student Pass on a CharlieCard will allow a student to pay half fare on BAT buses.  

This program is valid for:
Any student in Middle or High School
in BAT’s Service Area (see www.ridebat.com)

How to Use the Pass:

Obtain a Student Pass by going to the Administrative office at 155 Court Street, Brockton Mondays through Fridays, 10 am to 4 pm.
Please bring: A valid student ID.
BAT will need to know your name, student ID # and school you attend.
You will get your picture taken and the card will be printed at that time.

There is a $5.00 fee for this card.  At this time only cash is accepted.

 

Load stored value onto your card using the Ticket Vending Machines located inside the BAT Centre. These machines accept cash debit and credit (MasterCard and Visa). Minimum $2.50 added at a time.
You may also load value onto your card online at: www.tinyurl.com/batcard   (NOTE: only STORED VALUE is valid on BAT buses)
Please note, it may take up to 48 hours for the funds to appear on your card when loading online.

 

Once value is loaded on the pass, it may be used on BAT buses by tapping it to the Orange smart card target on the farebox when it is time to pay.
The farebox will automatically take half fare from the card and issue a transfer on the card when applicable. All existing fare rules and policies apply.
Please have your student ID on you as well, as a driver may ask to see it to verify validity of the pass.
The photo ID allows BAT to determine validity and prevents fraudulent use by someone other than the student.

 

Tips/Notes:

Your card is sturdy, but please follow these tips to keep your card protected from damage:
Do not scratch, bend or punch a hole in card. The card will be deactivated if the sensitive wires inside it are broken or snapped.
Don’t hold your card next to metal objects (coins, zippers) or electronic devices (cellular phones or pagers) when using it. The metal may keep you card from being read properly.
Treat this card like cash. BAT is not responsible for lost or stolen cards.
If you need a replacement card, contact customer service at 508-638-5920.
BAT will replace a lost or stolen pass once each school year, additional fees may apply.
BAT is not able to transfer any stored value from lost or stolen cards.
All Student CharlieCards expire on June 30th each year and are reissued for the following
year.
