Acting as Brockton Area Transit’s (BAT) contractor, Champion City Transit Management is looking for a determined individual with a positive attitude to serve as our Manager of Risk.

The Manager of Risk is responsible for managing the risk of all Brockton Area Transit assets and Sub Corp Employee’s.  Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations and company policy.

Responsibilities include all or most of those listed below:

  • Assists in the administration of driver hiring and compliance process.
  • Provides direction and guidance to driver trainers.  Assists in the development and monitoring of contents of classroom training to ensure compliance.  Teaches classes as required.  Schedules and conducts re-cert and re-training
  • Assists in the investigation of incidents, accidents, and work-related injuries including accident investigation, accident reports, accident files, accident register, and follows up with the claims office and adjusters as necessary.    Provides post-accident counseling with drivers.  Retrains drivers as necessary
  • Prepares and submits accident-related compliance forms, maintains files, and enters in DMO, or otherwise submits data to appropriate person or organization.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of, periodical safety meetings based on safety training goals and objectives
  • Provides assistance and training to drivers and attendants on passenger management and other safety related issues. It is preferred that the successful candidate hold a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with both Air Brake and Passenger endorsements.
  • Performs on-road checks of all drivers including but not limited to fixed route, demand response, Rockland and Bridgewater State University.
  • Conducts monthly check and replenishment of first-aid kits along with a monthly check of the AED’s. Logs for these actions will be kept up to date.
  • Covers the Operations Shift Supervisor position as necessary and is included on the rotating weekend safety coverage.
  • Provides various reports and analyses, including safety trends.  Develops cost saving recommendations.  Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Provides in-house risk assessments and develop plans to mitigate exposure in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Consults with Transportation Safety Administration to conduct tests that analyze employee practices and deliver feedback to promote a safer transit system.
  • Attend trainings to become certified in PTASP, SMS and OSHA.
  • Assists in maintaining records for mission critical items and processes.
  • Assist the maintenance department with employee training and compliance of tools, vehicle lifting systems and heavy equipment. It is preferred that the successful candidate hold a Massachusetts 2A/1C hoisting license.
  • Required to drive company vehicle to investigate accidents, review driver safety performance or handle other company matters.
  • This position is a safety sensitive role and is included in the random pool as specified in the FTA Drug and Alcohol protocols.

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s Degree. and have the following skills and experience:

  • 2 to 3 years transportation, safety or related experience
  • Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Good verbal, written and relational communication skills, with ability to appropriately interact with employees of all levels including drivers, customers, senior management, client representatives, union officials and general public
  • Fluent in English
  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
