Position Summary: The Financial Analyst plays a key role in supporting the fiscal management and strategic planning functions of the Brockton Area Transit Authority. This position is responsible for conducting financial analysis, developing budgets, preparing reports, and supporting grant administration. The Financial Analyst ensures the efficient use of financial resources while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of BAT’s annual operating and capital budgets.
• Analyze financial data and trends to support strategic decision-making.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with operating departments to review financial performance and ensure budget adherence.
• Assist with grant reporting, tracking, and compliance.
• Assist in service performance evaluation.
• Support audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and transparency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting, preferably in the public or transportation sector.
• Experience with federal and state grant funding is a plus.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
• Experience with financial software; knowledge of ERP systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions:

• Both part-time and full-time schedules will be considered. Standard office environment with occasional travel to meetings or off-site locations.
• Hybrid work arrangements may be considered based on operational needs.
